You can request the harness that is proper for your car. Carmine, longtime member will recommend Ital for sure. My boss always orders parts for his Alfa from them. That one looks really solid. Not rusty. What do they want for it? I understand your frustration. As for compatible parts.. Most everything will be, from a mechanical standpoint. The diff ratios in your fuel injected one will be 3.9 that one will be 4.1. Even the different ratios in the differentials are fine. As long as you change both front and rear at the same time. You will mess up your speedo, but other then that it will be fine.
My 1996 niva has 4.3's in it. Its MUCH better for offroad driving then the standard 3.9's. _________________ 1996 Lada Niva - Desert racing edition

They are asking 3000.
The biggest part of the frustration has been because I know they are work horses as vehicles, my family in Europe has driven them, friends in the military who served overseas... and so on... but I wanted one and kept the blinders up when my instincts were telling me not to get the one I did and look at other places. Lesson learned I guess. _________________ 1998 Niva 1.7i electrical problems being worked out... maybe... I hope... |

I haven't heard anything back from Ital... which leaves me with one single option...
Try and rebuild from the ground up... as I said to one of my friends here while talking about it... it's gonna be all new and shiny... might not run but it'll look good
I'll post pics about my progress.... I have a feeling my skills might read like a tragic comedy... _________________ 1998 Niva 1.7i electrical problems being worked out... maybe... I hope... |

I talked to Ital motors about buying that Niva a few months ago. $3000 was a bit more than I was willing to spend, and I didn't want a carbed model, so I passed on it. I ended up getting lucky and buying a 95 1.7i Cossack in much better shape for $1200 less with brand new tires and a bunch of things recently replaced and overhauled. Mind you, I did need to replace the alternator and bracket which cost in the range of $180. _________________ 1995 1.7L Fuel Injected Lada Niva Cossack

Hey guys, I'm new here, and have been thinking about getting a Niva as my first car (for many years). I'm just wondering, is that one the same as this? (it looks like it's at the same place)

If so, what did you think about it, other than it was a bit above your price range (if it's the same, they're now asking $2000)? My parents are going to be in Edmonton in the next couple weeks, and I was going to get them to check it out, but neither of them know all that much about cars, and really nothing about Ladas. |
