Darnit was doing more investigating... I think the B series is just physically too large to fit. Nertz! the sm465 has a 6.55:1 bull low gear too Sad

Exercised the winch.. Needed some dead weight so had to hook up to the bucket (my buddies YJ).. It makes an excellent anchor Very Happy

In the end was 100% success didn't break anything but was lifting the back end of the Niva off the ground. My buddy spun out under the trailer when he was unhooking so the truck being yanked was about 17,000 - 18,000lb depending on his fuel load and he still had a tiny bit of traction (aka kitty litter) once we started getting him moving so it helped a bit.

1st attempt simply tugging on the towstrap = fail too icy
2nd attempt hooking up the winch cable = fail was just sliding me along the ground
3rd attempt chucking the YJ out as an anchor = success.

I only have an ancient 4000lb winch i got for free but man does it work good. Waiting for the day i rip out the bumper-tubes though.

Can't say I'm not a wee bit concerned about that myself. Wink

Updated the homemade switchpanel and threw in-cab winch controls in this time. Not impressed with the rockers though. The switches work great but in 10 min three of them burnt the LED's so i'm going to get some different ones as i'm not impressed by it.

chow.

Start of vacation... Decided to muck around at work before i headed home.
Ran out of blocks before I could get the back wheel to come off the ground.

Blew the output bearing on the tranny a few weeks ago and ended up having to do a 7 hour full on superbodge and dropped in a 4 speed and swapped out the t-case........ Lets just say the superbodge got it going but you gotta hold onto your fillings because the 4-speed has a different tranny mount and I didn't have any.... Ended up modifying a 5 speed mount bushing and mount. Nothing Lines up and the CV is worn out. Going out to the scrap yard one of these days to see if my old 95 still has the u-joint intermediate shaft on it. We've been busy at work though so i've only been getting my 36 hour resets and back out on the road. Haven't even gotten a chance to add more rock rash this year. Crying or Very sad

Fun stuff.

Hey guys (and gals) It's been a while. We've been absolutely crazy busy at work.

I decided to locally sell the old girl because i just no longer have the time needed to put into it and get it back to %100 fighting shape. The potential buyers are a couple young adults and their dad to fix up as a project. You might see them on the board here asking questions if or before they pick it up. I'll still be kicking around here and told them you are a great bunch of guys (and gals).

I have to head back out on the road. Talk at ya later.

P.S. Hope everyone had a good turkey day (up here) and having a good Columbus day (down there)
